New South Style #7: BBC DMC Studio

Amidst the bustle of some of our largest client programs mid-year, we quietly took a giant step into a new opportunity in our Creative Services Department by opening a studio space.  I am so happy to share our journey with you!

We have slowly been amassing a beautiful collection of small ware centerpiece items that are truly reflective of our southern style and exclusively for the use of BBC clients. Previously this curated collection was housed in a storage room at our corporate office but we soon outgrew that space. In addition we have also been venturing into custom fabrication of décor and centerpieces for our clients which necessitated room to build.

With Bonnie and Executive Management’s blessing, I set out to find a perfect space that provided storage of our treasures, room for tool setup, space to assemble, and space to entertain clients in.  The BBC studio landed at the end of a quiet Mid-City NOLA street across from a picturesque cemetery in a 1600 square foot building with finished rooms on one side and a warehouse room with roll up door on the other.

It has taken many months to update the interior with painting, installing custom shelving, and decorating to highlight our collection but we are finally settled in to creative business as usual and more!

This is a space where I can build new centerpiece samples, set up décor mock-ups for photos, and create our client’s vision when it’s something we can’t find locally setting us up for the perfect client experience in the décor department. It is also a space where the sales team can stop by with prospective clients during their city tour to highlight the true advantage to partnering with a DMC that has an in-house creative department.

And if this wasn’t all exciting enough, we are excited to rent some of the studio space to Emily Thomas of  EM Fresh, resident artist  at House of Blues and creator of chalk art designs for all occasions. Any event where we get to feature her art is sure to provide a unique NOLA
twist!

I’m thankful to BBC for taking this leap of faith and to the entire team for their support as well as their hard work in helping repaint the studio into the inspiring palate it is today. I am looking forward  to the continuous growth this will bring to BBC as well as the future décor that will come to life here!
